Between Chamonix and les Praz, the track is relatively straight and flat. First it is laid in a large plain also occupied by Chamonix sports center, then it traverses a wood (bois du Bouchet) and crosses Arveyron, the outlet stream of the Mer de Glace glacier, shortly before entering les Praz village.
